Every year pumpkin spice season rolls around and I’m torn between the desire to indulge my great love for this seasonal flavor with a tasty hot beverage or two, and the more level-headed decision to skip the unnecessary sugar, artificial flavors, and dairy products that are commonly a part of these sweet treats 😉
This year I decided to put an end to the inner-conflict surrounding my relationship with pumpkin spice season! I committed to creating a hot pumpkin spice beverage I love. One that makes me swoon when I think of it. One that I will find myself yearning after for many pumpkin spice seasons to come ❤
I decided to go with a plant-based recipe. It was a no-brainer, considering the current depth of my love affair with plant-based food.
I used homemade maple syrup to sweeten my creation, because I feel that the maple flavor adds another dimension of the fall season to the recipe. I’m VERY happy with that choice. Go with it if you are a fan of homemade syrup.
Honey is also a great choice as a sweetener in this recipe if you prefer it to syrup. And it can be made whole foods or vegan friendly by using date paste as a substitute 😉
HOT PUMPKIN SPICE BEVERAGE
1 1/2 c soy milk, non-gmo
1/2 c pumpkin, pureed
2 tbls maple syrup
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp ground ginger
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
Place in a saucepan and warm on low heat to desired temperature.
This recipe makes one large serving. Simply duplicate the recipe to accommodate however many people you are preparing this beverage for 😉
I’m absolutely certain that this warm, creamy, satisfying beverage is going to be just the ticket to quell your pumpkin spice cravings, without jacking up your sugar intake. I’d love to know if I’m right! So, let’s meet in the comments and chat all about it 😉
As always, your presence is greatly appreciated. I adore that you are here. And I just know that we are going to have great fun together ❤
