There really is nothing like homemade bbq sauce. Making it yourself is the only way to go. It is so much better than anything you can pour from a bottle picked off the supermarket shelf.

If you don’t already have a recipe you love, or even if you do, I’ve got one for you that’s going to make your tastebuds sing 😉 And I can’t imagine a better time to roll it out than just before Father’s Day! You’re welcome Dad!

Whether Dad is doing the grilling, or the fam is doing it for him, he’ll appreciate having a top notch sauce to slather all over his chicken and ribs. And this recipe makes a top notch sauce, for sure ❤

It’s so damn simple too! Gather the ingredients. Put ’em in a saucepan. Simmer ’em for 10 minutes. And you’ve got bbq sauce. Just like that 😉

Invest in good spices. Really. Do it.
10 minutes on the stovetop. So easy.

1 1/2 c. ketchup

1 c. dark brown sugar, packed

3/4 c. white wine vinegar

1/4 c. molasses

2 tbls worcestershire sauce

2 tbls ground mustard

2 tsp paprika

2 tsp black pepper

1 tsp salt

Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan and simmer for 10 minutes.

Use immediately. Or store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Changing the vinegar will alter this sauce to fit your mood.

The white wine vinegar in the recipe gives it some tang.

Red wine vinegar will make it smoother and richer.

And balsamic will give it more depth and boldness.

Your choice. Enjoy it your way.

Or better yet … make it the way Dad likes it ❤

If you make this sauce for the special Dad in your life this Father’s Day I would love to hear how he liked it. Take a minute and share that info in the comments for me, if you would. Or just connect with me there and let me know what your Father’s Day plans are for 2020!

And … connect with me on facebook, instagram, and pinterest to stay abreast of any other happenings here at Bohemian Apothecarist.

As always, your presence is greatly appreciated. I adore that you are here. And I just know that we are going to have great fun together ❤
